In Yoga Class, you can work at your own pace as you articulate your joints and encourage them to have a full range of motion. Getting on the floor and playing with a child is similar to the refreshing positive effect Yoga has on your body, soul, and spirit.
Yoga has been known to decrease the pain associated with being rigid and stiff. Get a new perspective as you put yourself in different positions than you would during a normal day. When was the last time you looked up? Did you put your hands above your head today? Have you looked at the world upside down today? Have you stretched out on your back or stomach when you weren’t in bed?

Yoga is not an extreme or intense workout for most people, but it is designed to make you stronger. During class you will move all major muscle groups, helping you to prevent muscle imbalances. The combination of stretching and building strength while you breathe deeply has a natural effect of renewing your energy because blood flow increases and oxygen can get to your cells, eliminating toxins.
Learning to breathe properly is a big part of class. Most people breathe rapidly. Proper breathing has a calming effect and it sharpens your thought processes and physical awareness. You'll find it will be next to impossible to concentrate on your problems during class because you will be mentally focused on the stretches and breathing patterns. Afterwards, many people have said that they feel rejuvenated as if they just took a walk on a beach or a county road.

Current publications suggest that gentle stretching encourages your immune system to fight midriff weight gain by helping your body to lower cortisol, a stress hormone. Most people want the fat in their mid-section moved out, restoring a body that can bend and flex without putting pressure on the heart, lungs, and other vital organs. Your body will know what to do if you give it a chance, starting gradually… but please be responsible and check with your physician to make sure that this type of exercise is good for you. Then, come and enjoy class!
Yoga class is moderately paced. All ages are welcome.
Cost: $5.00 - members and nonmembers $3.00 for older adults 60+
