Tamera Shank
Hello, I’m Tamera Shank and I grew up in St. Albans, West Virginia participating in dance, cheerleading, track and softball throughout my life.
I am a 2004 graduate of SAHS and graduated in 2008 from WVU with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. As such, I have had extensive study in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and the overall biological effect exercise has on the body. My interest is in providing individuals with evaluations in the areas of cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, neuromuscular integration, and body composition and designing exercise programs based on the results of these evaluations.
I have been a certified Personal Trainer since 2005 through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). With this certification I have knowledge of risk factor screening, fitness assessment, nutrition, exercise science, exercise programming and appropriate progressions, instructional and spotting techniques, lifestyle modification and professional scope of practice. I am able to design and implement exercise programs to an individual's specific goals and needs. I have 400+ hours of internship experience in various fitness centers in the Morgantown area and have worked with a variety of clients including general fitness, weight loss, muscle/strength building, PEIA Weight Management and rehabilitation/post-rehabilitation clients. I am also CPR, AED and First Aid certified.
